Initiatives

• Community Park:
  • Cleanup: removed structures that were safety hazards and fallen tree limbs with the help of the highway department and community members
  • Needed upgrades: Replaced swing seats and picnic table.
• Wayfinder Grant:
  • Aquired a grant to establish kiosks in the Town center, Jacobs Road, and HO Cook State Forest.
  • A portion of this grant was used to purchase new street signs throughout Heath and replace old ones.
• Center Gardens: Onging support for maintaining and enhancing the established center gardens.
• Town Center Court:
  • Applied for a grant to resurface the outdoor court, won the grant, but could not fullfill all the requirements. Working with the Highway Dept to see what they might be able to do.
  • Purchased new pickleballs for the court.
• Pickleball:
  • Scheduled a clinic with a DUPR rated Level 3 instructor as a fundraiser
  • Future effort is to add two outdoor Pickleball courts at JRMC
• Ping Pong: Aquired a free ping pong table and set up a badminton net for use in Jacobs gym.
• Center Basketball Court: Effort to seek a grant to renovate the basketball court at Jacobs Road
• Outdoor Badminton at JRMC:
  • Removed the dilapidated fencing at the front of the Fire Dept room
  • Will be setting up badminton there when the the HYPA camp ends in early August.

Trails

• A Woodlands Partnership grant funds owner outreach by the Franklin County Land Trust.
• Heath and Rowe were awarded a $50,000 grant to fund Phase II of the Regional Thru-Trail Project initiative (the Mahican-Mohawk connection). This funding will allow Heath and Rowe to continue the planning and schematic work of FRCOG, which is aimed at developing a regional trail from Catamount State Forest/Shelburne Falls all the way to Mohawk State Forest via Heath and Rowe.

Past Initiatives

• Acquired a grant to purchase picnic tables for the Center Common and Jacobs Road
• Held a 5k Fun Run that took place at the Heath Fair with plans to make it yearly
