Dog Licensing

Additional Pages

All dogs in the Town of Heath must be licensed annually, by March 31st. Puppies must be licensed by six months of age. New, older dogs and those belonging to new residents must be licensed within 30 days. Dog licenses are available at the Town Clerk's Office. Annual renewal of dog licenses takes place from February 13 to March 31.

In order to license your dog(s), we will need:

  1. A valid rabies certificate
  2. The appropriate fee (fees are $5 for each spayed female or neutered male dog; $10 for any intact dog)
  3. A certificate of spaying/neutering, if applicable

Please send the valid rabies certificate along with a self-addressed stamped envelope and the appropriate fee made payable to the Town of Heath to:

Office of the Town Clerk, Town of Heath, PO Box 35, Heath, MA 01346

We will mail the tag back to you as soon as possible. You may also stop by the Town Clerk's office during office hours, it is recommended to call to make an appointment.

As a reminder, all dogs must be registered by March 31st. Dogs registered after that date will be assessed a late fee of $25.00 per dog, unless it is a new dog for the owner. Failure to license your dog may result in a criminal complaint being issued, along with the additional fines.

THE MAIN REASON FOR LICENSING DOGS IS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY REASONS…WE MUST BE SURE THAT ALL DOGS ARE UP-TO-DATE WITH THEIR RABIES SHOTS
